It’s been 11 years since Giant pioneered the now legendary Compact Road Design. By effectively sloping the toptube downward toward the seatstays, Giant designers were able to reduce the overall size of the front and rear frame triangles resulting in Giant’s now distinctive compact look. Functionally, the compact configuration reduces weight and increases lateral rigidity. As a result, the frame accelerates faster thanks to less energy loss through unwanted flex. Stiffer is more efficient, but it doesn’t always offer the most comfortable ride. To address that, Giant engineers have been careful to include just the right amount of vertical compliance in each Compact Road Design for increased forgiveness and control.
Less is More. The Advantages of the Giant Compact Road Design:
Ultra lightweight: As low as 950 grams (formulaOne Advanced Composite)
Ultra Responsive: The Compact Road Design enables a more direct transmission of energy, resulting in lightning-fast responsiveness.
Superior Handling: Lateral rigidity and vertical compliance add stability and comfort. Because stiff is good, too stiff isn’t.
